about

Very personal song about personal events... I will leave it there, but it was quite cathartic to get this one written, recorded, and out of my head. Music can be therapy. It was first recored a few years ago when I wrote it, but it wasn't write, so I replaced the drums with new parts from Joe, added Phil on guitars, and away we went. Delightful having Tyra on the track, she always nails it. Everyone on it made it great. Thanks, y'all.

lyrics

You never really said you were sorry
I didn’t need to give you a chance
You said that you didn’t need me
Now you’re a victim of circumstance

Why did I worry?
Why did I cry?
I’m not the one who mistreated you so
And I’m not the one who told lies

It’s a sad sad place that you’ve found yourself in
I’m never going down that way again
Nothing for me to do, nothing to say
I hope that someday you find your own way

I never really gave my forgiveness
You didn’t need to think that I would
It’s not that you couldn’t get it
It’s that it wouldn’t really do what it should

What’s with the secrets? Why all this hid?
You wanted to go in the worst of all ways
Worst of ways is what you did

Don’t turn around run as fast as you can
Don’t look back at me, now I’m still the same man
Nothing left I can say, nothing to do
I hope that someday you find your own you

You’re not ashamed that you just walked away
Looking back now it’s much better today
I hope that somebody else treats you nice
Not going through all through all hell I went through twice

I didn’t need to make it my business
I shut it down as quick as I could
I really don’t need deliverance
If there’s another way to feel, it’s all good

So why would I worry?
Why would I cry?
I’m not the one who mistreated you so
And I’m not the one who told lies

It’s a sad sad place that you’ve found yourself in
I’m never going down that way again
Nothing for me to do, nothing to say
I hope someday that you find your own way
